Family Walk at Ferry Meadows Country Park

Had enough of your Schnauzer for one day. Then sit back, relax and put your feet up. You can let off a little steam here about things unrelated to your four-legged schnauzer.

Family Walk at Ferry Meadows Country Park

Post by zeta1454 »

Each year, for the past few years, we have arranged a get together for families who have had puppies from us to enjoy a walk and a picnic together with the dogs. It gives us a chance to see how some of the dogs who now live far from us are getting on and for the dogs to meet their relatives. This year, our Magic was able to meet up again with four of her great grand-pups, one of her grand-pups and one of her own puppies (now a handsome 4 year old :-) ) We also had some of our affens with us who were able to meet their relatives too. Here are some photos from the day :-)

Looks like you had a great time. I'm about to have foot surgery but it would be lovely to arrange a walk next spring at ferry meadows. I'm not far away in Deeping with Suzie 4 1/2 and her pup Dexter born in July this year.

I like that purple harness, what make is it? Hamish has a red one like the blue one in the 4th pic but it is not a good fit round his middle He has 4 harnesses and each has good and bad points One matts the fur under armpits? every time I use it.

Thank you :) It was a lovely day.

We actually live in North Yorkshire so about a couple of hours drive away from Ferry Meadows but we arrange this particular get together there as it is more central for the families who have had pups from us as they are very widely located around the UK.
There certainly are mini schnauzer owners near Ferry Meadows though who you may be able to meet up with for regular walks there. If you are on Facebook, there are a number of schnauzer groups and walks are often arranged through these as well, of course, via the Forum :)

Thank you :)

The mini in the light blue harness is actually Billy who is litter brother to Poppy (in the red harness). Maverick is their great-uncle (he is one of Magic's pups and these are from Pip's last litter. Pip is Magic's granddaughter). Poppy does have a very original hair style here :)) - she has since been groomed and is not quite so shaggy!

The purple harness is one of the Fleece Lined harnesses from the DogGames Shop. We have the Perfect Fit ones for our own dogs from the same company and have found them very good but these lovely too. We have found the company helpful in the past regarding measurements. I know that a lot of general sized harnesses can end up being loose and rubbing the fur to cause matts. The Perfect Fit ones shouldn't do this but it may all come down to how well they are fitted.

Here is a link to the website and you could have a look at both styles:
