Remembering Buster 11/05/06 - 22/03/13

Saying goodbye to our Schnauzers is the hardest part. Share your memories here as we bid farewell to our beloved friends. They've crossed the bridge and returned to the meadow in full health and free of injuries. Running free. We won't forget.

Remembering Buster 11/05/06 - 22/03/13

One year today since we had that sad farewell to our dear, darling Buster. In some ways I still can't believe it happened. Nobody expects to lose their dog prematurely. Buster coped with his stomach cancer so bravely and wanted to please us right to the end. He never complained and even got so used to the regular vet visits he would help himself to a chair in the waiting room!

We often talk about him and he is always in our thoughts.

It was the most difficult time as just over 3 weeks later hubby had a major stroke, which was life-changing for both of us. I have no doubt that the anguish he felt throughout Buster's palliative care contributed to the stroke. Our vet kept telling us to think of ourselves as well. It was so difficult to know when to let go..... The people on this forum were just amazing and to this day I remain grateful for their support, understanding and compassion. It really was a lifeline..

But we focus on Buster's happier times and have many a laugh about his unbelievable antics, not least the singing in the car!!! If there were auditions up on the Bridge then surely Buster is Head Choirboy:)

One in a million, RIP xxxxxxx

I can't believe it is a year already :( I won't ever forget Buster's reaction when your husband nipped to the loo at Norbury Park ;) He truly was one in a million and he will never be forgotten.

I hope your husband continues to improve :ymhug: :ymhug: :ymhug:

Thinking of you all today Liz. Time passes quickly but our special dogs will stay in our hearts forever.

Buster was a special boy and he was taken too young. Hold on to all the special memories of your time together.

Sorry you lost Buster at such a young age. We thought we were unlucky when we lost our mini at 9. Although your time with him was limited, his special memories will stay forever and glad you can smile when you look back on them.

Buster looks lovely in that photo.
He will be running free of pain now over the bridge with all the other minis we all miss. It is sad you had to lose him so early.
Wishing you and your husband good health in the years to come.
