My giant barks, growls and acts very nervous when someone comes in the house. I have my sister in law staying me us at the moment with her boyfriend but Wesley really seems to dislike him.
When we go for a walk and meet stranger/people he is the same..he doesn't bark or growl unless they stop and admire him and try to get near him. It's quite embarrassing and I'm really worried this could become a problem!
Has anyone had this problem with their giant?
He's 7 months old.

Re: Barking
I'd say that he's going through one of their 'stages', and you need to do some more structured socialisation to prevent it becoming a problem. It depends on when he starts getting uncomfortable, if its when he sees a stranger then I'd set up some 'dummy' meetings with one or two people where you can meet this 'stranger' who doesn't make eye contact but who will drop treats for him when going past, getting closer until he'll accept a treat from them. Obviously you take it slowly as when he growls then he's uncomfortable and you've progressed too quickly. If its just when people stare at him then try to fuss him (my Cassis hates people staring, so rude!) I'd pre-empt them by asking them to stand without looking at him and give them a treat to give him. That way you take control of the situation and get them to help socialise him. That way you can train him while training other people in the correct way to approach a dog ;)
