S Wales, Merthyr Maw Sand Dunes Schnauzerfest

Post by BeeBee »

So much choice in south Wales, but decision's been made, it's Merthyr Maw, huge beach, parking, sand dunes. Perfect.

CF32 0LS is nearest post code or just search for Merthyr Mawr sand dunes in Google.

Sunday 19th October 10.30am.

I do! Someone better tell the traffic police that the motorways will be extra busy carrying schnauzers around the country ;)

Are you going to do the Bristol walk as well? I'm wondering if we could manage both; logistically we probably could, but I'm a bit worried it might be too much for Alfie now he's diabetic. He's a lot better than he was, but still in the process of stabilising :ymhug: . I'll have to give it more thought, trouble is you can't explain to a dog that they need to pace themselves because you have another walk planned for the afternoon :))

Thank you ;;) . I'll see how he goes in Pembrokeshire as we'll be walking quite a bit, hopefully. Even if we don't make this walk, we will arrange something in Wales soon.

Good news :D . Alfie did brilliantly in Pembrokeshire earlier this week. We were out each day, 3 days running from about 9am til 4pm and did loads of walking, including two 5 mile+ walks, running around on various beaches along the way and doing other walks on the same day. He did get very tired and flaked out on my lap for a couple of hours afterwards, but he seemed happy and showed no ill effects from the Diabetes. We took some treats and dispensed them sparingly to keep his energy levels up, as well as making sure we had plenty of water as the weather was unbelievably warm/hot!

Based on the above and the chance for him to sleep in between walks, we will plan to do this walk and go on to Bristol afterwards. So another one for the Schnauzer convoy - we'll have to put Schnauzer signs in our cars :))

Don't know about Alfie flaking out on your lap - reckon I would have too after all that exercise :). Brilliant news though - so glad he dealt so well with it all.
