Re: Winter coats
Hi Dean, the 42cm fits perfectly around his chest etc, it's just a tiny bit long (say 1cm) and as Flynn is very muscular the leg straps are a bit tight, but it's by far the best jacket we've ever bought. It's the raincoat version so quite thin material, not sure how thick the winter coat version is. Also, Flynn is a very big mini, he's about 16inches at the shoulder and weighs almost 15kg without being overweight, so 40cm would probably be ok for Rupert unless he's the same size as Flynn. I haven't seen Rupert since he was about 6 months so I am sure he's grown quite a bit since then!!

Re: Winter coats
Here's Flynn modelling his this morning. Loving his most livid schnauzer look. Please excuse his lack of furnishings, we had to remove them as they got very matted. On reflection the coat is actually about the right size.

Re: Winter coats
I really like the Hurtta one, espcially in red, that would look fab on my boys, but god forbid I buy something in red (red = arsenal = no no = unhappy boyfriend)

Re: Winter coats
I do like the Hurtta coat, but definitely blue for Rupert this time. I will get the 42 rather than the 40, as I'd rather have it a little big, than too tight. Rupert is also close on 16 inches between the shoulder blades and base of tail. He weighs in at about 12,5kg at the moment.

Can you please tell me if there's a flap on the back that I can attach the lead through to Ssuie-Belle's harness if I get her one of these. I don't really fancy wearing her harness outside the coat so need a flap.
TIA

Re: Winter coats
Judie has ordered one for each of the dogs (don't know what colour) but apparently they are out of stock at the moment so we might have a bit of a wait.

Re: Winter coats
So do I, if it works with a harness it'll be Susie-Belle's first ever (I expect) Christmas present, the first of many I hope.

Re: Winter coats
I ordered 2 of the Hurta coats: 40 for SusieB as she's a little shorter in the back than Renae who I ordered a 42 for. They arrived today (from MuddyPaws, lovely company to deal with btw) and SusieB's is a gorgeous fit, it wraps round her nicely with lots of coverage. The 42 however is a much smaller coat overall which is odd, so I called MuudyPaws & he said he thinks theyre for sausage dogs, ie they're narrow coats. I'll take a picture tomorrow of the 2 together before I post the 42 back & exchange it for a 40 which is a better fit for Renae.
The harness for Susie-Belle fits well underneath the coat & I can pull the tag forward perfectly for the lead, so although there's no opening on the back for the harness to pass through, it's not a problem.
I love the coats, they're really lovely & they've made perfect first Xmas presents for the girls, a bit of a luxury item, just as a present should be in my view. Thanks everyone for the recommendations, advice etc.

Re: Winter coats
Love the look of all the coats, got wookie a nice waterproof one but think I'd like to get her a fleecy one, any idea's ? Just had a hair cut & now I'm worried she'll be cold when it does eventually get cold. (just won't mention to gary how much they cost ha ha, so make sure no-one drops me in it next sunday on the walk, mind you if its for wookie he won't moan)

Re: Winter coats
Here's some pics of Susie-Belle in her new Hurtta winter coat (I couldn't make her wait till Xmas morning before we opened it):
Here I've laid the 42 (black) on top her 40 so you can see the narrower fit of a 42. I much prefer the generous side coverage of the 40 so am sending back the 42 & swapping for another 40 for Renae.

Re: Winter coats
BeeBee - I suspect Susie-Belle will have another present in her stocking by Christmas!
I daren't even buy Rodders present yet as I know I would give in and let him have it early.
