Most of the hair in the ear isn't that long, all the hair pulled from Graces ear was just done with finger and thumb, it is the safest way as you can't poke to far into the ear. If you use forceps, only ever go as far as you can see and be very sure your dog isn't going to move thier head, some will move their head backwards which would push whatever you have in their ear, in to far.

You will occasionally pull out a long black hair that is over 2 inches long and this does tend to tickle the ear as it comes out.

Right, here's Freddy's beard improvement! He looks far better, did have a bit of a tear up when I took it closer to his chin and this hunk of white hair fell to the floor. Me that is, not him!
Did the same to Maisy and she looks a bit 8-shaped now, maybe a bit too cheeky to pull the depth off.

That's why you use the comb to find the line, you can then adjust it to what suits that particular dogs head before committing to shaving off the hair.

You could take off that little grey bit at the corner of his eye sitting just above the eyebrow, with the thinning scissors.

Yeah, think I will, it's the bit I find most annoying! Okay, I'll find her line next time and grow it out to that, her face is also a bit smaller than Freds so I figured it wouldn't be the exact same.

This is great Jo! I didn't risk having a go myself in case I slipped, so Heidi has been to the groomer today, but next time I will do it myself.

HELP.
I wasn't going to post any pictures of Eddie because he looks pretty crook at the moment. I keep clipping extra bits off but he still doesn't look right and I'm not sure that he can see all that well.
I need help so any suggestions would be gratefully received.
The sad thing is that he used to look really good.

All that fluff on top of his nose needs to grow out, it's one of those bits that stick up for ages until the weight of the longer hair pulls it down out of the eyes.

Can you take a photo side on and pull his beard forward so I can see where you have been clipping up to? ATM it looks like you didn't want to commit to clipping far enough forwards and have been left with a fluffy 'no mans land' between cheek and beard.

Here's a picture of both sides. It's bath day today so he may look a bit better after that but I doubt it.
