Re: Keeping the Forum A Friendly Place

I agree, this forum should be kept friendly, but if someone finds it abusive, if a non-native user regards his dog as "it", I had no option but to retaliate.

A moderator could have intervened in the first place???

Re: Keeping the Forum A Friendly Place

I feel that a member should be allowed to state what he/she feels.

If this is not an option, then ok, but i find the posts have some relation to my posts. I would prefer if they were addressed directly.

Re: Is this normal for 16 weeks?

The Standard Schnauzers are the original Schnauzers. They are very often noted as the most difficult to train.
They need loving but strong training.

It is definitely not impossible to train them but consequence is necessary, even more so than the other Schnauzers large and small and most other dogs.

Re: Thinking of getting a Giant

I would not subscribe to the fact that Giant Schnauzers should not be in the same home as very small children. The Schnauzers, mini, medium and giant are all a handfull to train. The Schnauzer (medium) is the only Schnauzer that has never been crossed with other breeds. It is very often difficult to...

Re: GS Ownership

I can't answer with any authoirty as we don't have children. However, our first Giant Schnauzer Pepper Salt absolutely loved children. When she was a puppy I had to keep her away from them - she loved them at first go. Sharp claws are destructive and I had to keep a distanz from small children. A Gi...

Re: Otto's beard

Some dogs male or female have long beards, some have short.

It should never become a problem.

It is definitely not a health problem.

Hi Sam

There's nothing to be ashamed of shedding a tear or two. I'm shedding a tear or two now just from reading your post.

Absolutely wonderful.

Re: Determined little girl

I wonder if you really need to worry about Coco's running up and down the stairs?? I would have thought that this would be more for Giant Schnauzers as they need far more time to develop. Even with large dogs, one must show them how to manage the stairs as pups. Afterwards, caution is advised. I hav...

Re: Smelly puppy!

With temperatures rising aboves the 30s, it is obvious that dogs will let off a certain odour. I am certainly not averse to it.

I love doggy smells - it tells me they are alive and kicking.

Re: Introducing Lottie - need lots of advice!

Hallo Nikki We have been dog owners for over 30 years and have our first Giant Schnauzer Pepper Salt. Enya sleeps all through the night. During the day she is convinced that we are solely there to engage in activities with her. She is very good in tracking. Most Schnauzers have good noses. She is al...

Re: Meet Kiki!

As an ex breeder Leigh, do you think leaving the mother at 8 weeks is OK or should I push for her to stay longer? I am not Leigh but I would definitely take possession of the pup at 8 weeks. Between 8 - 12 weeks, the pup develops very quickly. A 12 week old pup is far more difficult to train. We bou...
