Re: Dropping to 2 feeds - pup not hungry

Thanks Julie, I do try not to get too bogged down in rules etc. but I must admit I do love a bit of routine myself :D Hi Leigh - I did wonder whether I was overfeeding her but as I mention she seems to be a good size & vet was happy at her check a couple of weeks ago. I was getting a little muddled ...

Re: Dropping to 2 feeds - pup not hungry

Hi Julie, yes I am at home but I guess I should have said not always around at that sort of time & often if I'm out then I can & do bring Coco with me so it would just suit better if she had a "breakfast" rather than a "brunch" :-D If I'm not taking her then I guess I can just leave for her to eat w...

Coco has grown

I haven't posted a picture of Coco in ages. She's starting to get a silver scarf with a couple of other silvery streaks down her rear legs & side of body (Dad was S&P, Mum was black). We were disappointed to begin with that she changed colour so quickly, we're not stripping but she's only had one cl...

Dropping to 2 feeds - pup not hungry

Hello All Coco is 6 months in a week & I'm trying to reduce her from 3 to 2 feeds. She stopped being particularly hungry in the mornings about a week ago (coincided with her coming into season). I thought by reducing her to 2 meals that she would be hungry again in the mornings but it seems she's no...

Re: 1st Season

Ahh thanks for the reassurance Mike. They really are our babies aren't they. I can imagine the look on your face when that chap asked about her scenting %-( :o3 So far she's being very clean, like Sasha we see the odd spot around but she doesn't seem to like the feel of it. I'll have to have a think...

Re: 1st Season

Thanks Leigh, thanks for the heads up about a potential "second season" I wasn't aware of that so will keep an eye out. She's a bit out of sorts with herself this evening & not quite able to settle, she just wants to snuggle up but then keeps cleaning herself & fussing around. I think possibly feeli...

1st Season

Hi All Coco is not quite 6months (10 Nov) & it looks like she's started her first season. She's been licking herself a lot the last couple of weeks & now we've noticed some blood spotting & she's swollen at the back. I've done the tissue test & yes there's blood on the tissue. I just thought this wa...

Re: Toilet Training HELP!!

thanks Leigh, Julie, apologies for the late reply. It was my daughter's birthday party & we had family to stay. Coco had actually been looking to go outside & I was watching for her signals & it had all been pretty good so I got a bit complacent & distracted & we went a bit backwards. We don't have ...

Toilet Training HELP!!

So Coco had a few accidents inside over the first few weeks, mainly down to times when we were busy (ie cooking dinner or similar) & missed the need to take her out. I started really treating up the toileting outside & giving lots of praise but we still had the odd accident. Now she is actively choo...

Re: How keep a wriggler still?

thanks for the advice again. OK so I need to get some thornit. Good to know about not plucking I hadn't read about it causing possible issues with ear infections but the methods described above sound much nicer & far easier. I'm all for easier! I gave Coco a yaks milk chew yesterday when I was tryin...

Re: How keep a wriggler still?

Hi Julie & Alison I try to groom her most days so she gets used to it, shes quite happy with the slicker just moves about a lot which makes it a little harder. actually shes also quite happy with me cutting her nails & trimming hairy feet but she just wont stay still for long enough to do more than ...

How keep a wriggler still?

I'm after advice on how to keep my wriggling Coco still whilst I groom her. She eagerly comes up on the counter where we groom as she knows there are treats a plenty to be had so gets a bit excited but its so hard to keep her still so I can do the other elements like cutting nails & trimming hair be...

Re: Coco update

:D she is definitely flying the schnauzer flag She has grown a lot, loves her food so responds very well to treat based reward training. Shame it’s not yet following through when I don’t have a treat to hand! All in good time. Nighttime she’s amazing. Only howled a couple of minutes first 3 nights n...
