Re: Just an update on Barnaby and his liver !

Thanks everyone. There’s actually quite a lot of info about using metronidazole for hepatic encephalopathy. I understand what you are saying but in hepatic encephalopathy, antibiotics are used to help reduce colonic bacterial numbers in an effort to decrease ammonia formation. I think it either help...

Just an update on Barnaby and his liver !

Barnaby is doing much better than we all expected 5 months on from his diagnosis with chronic hepatitis. We have managed to get some weight on him he’s loving his butternut box food! He’s still on a liver supplement and the milk thistle, we have just added in metronidazole to help his neurological s...

Re: Chronic hepatitis

Sorry to hear about Barnaby. I use Bella & Duke dog food for team schnauzer and the wild bunch Elle has allergy to everything issues and this one works best although Benyfit now do a venison version which is a protein she tolerates. I use a lintbells digestive aid as well but only once a week. I ho...

You’ll be amazed how tiny they are and how they love to chase feet 😂 Definitely think about a dog/car carrier for the journey home as it will be a l...

Re: Chronic hepatitis

Barnaby is a bit up and down and had another day in the vets last Monday for fluids and to test his bile acid. Good news is his liver levels have come right down, his bile acid test showed the functioning liver he has is working ok. So overall great news, he’s lost weight but I think I just need to...

Re: Chronic hepatitis

So sorry to hear about Barnaby but good to know that he is still enjoying life :-) I have no experience with coping with a dog suffering hepatitis but wondered whether Milk Thistle may be helpful? Dorwest Herbs produce a supplement of this for dogs and are very helpful if you wanted to speak to the...

Re: CHICKEN

I removed chicken from my threes diets a few years ago due to their allergies and it definitely made a big difference. It’s definitely known to cause problems and I think well worth removing if your dogs are having allergies/colitis type issues.

Re: Chronic hepatitis

Thank you, funnily enough Barnaby has always been a possible grumbling pancreatitis lad so I have always been very strict with his treats, he was actually looking the best he ever had. He was prone to awful bouts of colitis as well. I changed him onto Millie’s wolfheart low fat kibble in December wh...

Chronic hepatitis

So unfortunately Barnaby has recently been diagnosed with chronic hepatitis and I was just wondering if anyone had any experience in this with their minis. One day Barnaby was fine and the next he wasn’t, I had noticed he had lost weight but I thought it was in correlation with me changing their foo...

Alberts is so fluffy it never matts at all to be honest.

But he looked so unkempt as he looked so wild! This keeps him tidier for longer !

Albert the fluff ball

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171024/da12d062d3c77b3c4e6e3440d67afbb9.jpg Alberts beard is ridiculously fluffy like cotton wool so I have decided to shorten and round his beard and it keeps it much neater. What’s even better is he looks like a puppy so when he misbehaved we can just say he’s o...

I got so fed up with my groomers clips in the end it pushed me over to grooming my dogs ! Especially as you are paying for a service you should really get...
