Re: Any breeds your schnauzer doesn't like?

That's interesting that a vet also mentioned that Black Labs are the breed most other breeds avoid. I thought Labs and Retrievers were supposed to be docile-type dogs. I know a chap who has a Black Lab (and to be fair, he's black lab is lovely but Sasha still avoids him like the plague) and even he...

Re: Any breeds your schnauzer doesn't like?

Barneys is very dog orientated rather than people, although he doesn't want to play with every dog he does like a good sniff. The ones he always gets excited about are the ones he's known from being a puppy. His go too breeds are Schanauzers Westies Irish wolfhound Golden retrievers Poodle types Not...

Re: Average daily water consumption?

That sounds a lot of fluid to me. Barney is around 12.5 kg and I would guesstimate at 500ml on an average day. Drinking a lot can be a sign of kidney trouble. I'd be inclined to have a blood test done to rule it out.

Re: Dog Licking Too Much / Staining

You've got too separate things really. Whys is he licking and the cause of the staining. Whats causing the licking? It sounds as though its something that's changed in his diet. Too much beef in Barneys diet and he starts nibbling his legs. What food is he having ? Or its an allergen in his new envi...

Re: Edie's grooming journey begins

I've been looking through old photos. Barney was 6-7 months old before he started looking "tidy". Wouldn't say quite a swan but not scruffy puppy

Re: Whys did I bother ?

Have you tried talking to him about it. I have.... it doesn't work. :D He said I've only got myself to blame. He never would have seen the pheasant if I hadn't trimmed his eyebrows extra short the night before =)) Can't argue with that kind of logic :D I never knew that some schnauzers had furnishi...

Whys did I bother ?

It was a lovely day yesterday so I thought I'd give Barney a long overdue bath on the patio to save tidying up inside. I thought we'd keep to clean paths this morning rather than the cliff paths which with heavy dews can end up with mucky dog. I like to keep him looking clean for a day at least :)) ...

Re: Edie's grooming journey begins

You can see it coming in though. Her fur looks quite long you could maybe take a bit more out when you're rolling or you could roll her coat more frequently. I have the same problem with Barney his coat grows really quick. If I do him weekly his coat stays at around 1.5 inch. I can get it shorter if...

Re: Miniature Schnauzer bumps, hair has fallen off

That's a very strange patch, it looks like old thick scar tissue, which I suppose it is. Was the original "cyst" wet or was is just over active skin growth? Its certainly doesn't look infected in anyway so I wouldn't be worried from that point of view. Barney once had a really bad patch from a tick....
