Re: Barney has kidney failure Again

Blood test results show the hormone injections have increased his red blood cell count. Unfortunately the kidney function has got worse. His creatinine is back over a thousand and phosphorus levels are in high range again :( It's not looking good. He had another hormone injection today and steroid t...

Re: Barney has kidney failure Again

Oh Alison, delighted that there is some improvement in Barney. Really hope it continues. Sending lots of positive vibes and a super large hug from Otto... :ymhug: (What is a hooman medicine/prescription?). I wondered if it was human misspelt at first. Me being silly hoomans = human :)) Not much imp...

Re: Running away from harness

I did read somewhere about some dogs not liking the harness as it feels to them as though they have to be submissive. When a dog wants to show who's boss one of the body language signs is to put their heads on top of the shoulders of the other dog. The feel of the harness is a bit like this. I don't...

Re: Barney has kidney failure Again

An update, We've seen glimpses of the Barney we know this past day, he has a bit more energy and wanting to play. We had the vets this morning. Unfortunately he's still losing weight. He's lost 1.5kg now. He's eating but hasn't got an appetite to start putting weight back on. Stomach ulcers and gene...

Re: A thread for Rosie and Edie

It's my wedding anniversary today and my wife, knowing what's close to my heart, commissioned a local artist to make a paper cut collage of Rosie and Edie as a present for me. I'm absolutely thrilled with it and she has managed to capture their "look" brilliantly. https://i.postimg.cc/WhG8fmJ9/5176...

Re: Barney has kidney failure Again

Glad to hear he's been released, I'm sure he'll be pleased to be back home in familiar surroundings. How's his demeanour Alison? Doe's he seem perky enough or does he seem to be under the weather? He's not good Sam. No energy whatsoever, plods about, wants to play but just can't. Mind wise he's on ...

He's home for the weekend [hippo] [hippo] Still not out of the woods his creatinine level has been in the 700s for past 2 days, his phosphorus has come down a bit, and aneamic. Urine sample is still showing infection. They did X-ray on his kidneys today just to make sure nothing had been missed on t...

Re: Barney has kidney failure Again

Its not good they've kept him in for at least 24hrs to give intensive care, further tests and ultra sound his kidneys so try and find out the cause of elevated blood levels :( Poor boy, on his birthday too and he couldn't even have any special treats. We've warned them he'll be very vocal. Sam you'l...

Re: Barney has kidney failure Again

Thank you for all your well wishes. He's not really improving, still having a job to get him to eat but drinking ok. Still enjoying walks but I am making them a lot shorter to conserve energy and hope he doesn't lose more weight. He's very lethargic and wanting lots of Mummy cuddles, which I'm takin...

Barney has kidney failure Again

Re: New member & soon to be standard owner

Dog food is a personal choice have a look at https://www.dogfoodadvisor.com which will have more of the brands available to you in US.
If choosing a dry food then grain free is generally of higher quality. Cold pressed is easier to digest than extruded.
