Violet

I used to clip my 1st schnauzer - I am not sure I understand your question what type of clip? Do you mean clipper? Blade size? Pattern? What would you like to know?

What size of blade, and pattern. Sorry that it doesn't make sense.

I have a cordless oster clipper and I used a 10 blade on ears and under paws and a 7 blade on face/cheeks, butt/inside thigh, throat and jacket and scissor to blend with furnishings etc. I sometimes used a 5 for the jacket because I like the longer stripped look. During the Winter I liked Oscar to be warm so didn't clip from about October to April. I just used to use a coat king to tidy up the jacket. I never realised at the time but I now know that is why Oscar kept such a dark salt and pepper colour because I didn't clip all year round and he also had some wire in his coat. I have attached a link for a good website that is helpful on grooming. I used to clip to the breed/show standard making it as close as possible to a stripped look. There are loads of videos on line and articles on grooming. Have you groomed before?

Sorry I forgot to attach the link. http://britmorschnauzers.com/groom.html

There is also a brilliant video by Linda Forsyth - shows her clipping and stripping two of her dogs. Really recommend it.
