Hi schnauzer chums,

Great to find a forum dedicated to these amazing dogs!!

Peggie is a 7 month old Standard and she is a belter. Had moments where I wished I'd got a less energetic breed but now can't imagine anything else [-x

Cheers!

Thanks for the kind words folks, look forward to chatting on the forum.

RE black standards - I would be interested to know how many there are! Everyone we meet has to ask what breed she is. She definitely doesn’t have that textbook schnauzer shape yet which I’m guessing will come with age and maybe her first haircut.

Sad to hear about your previous dog, Christine. New fella looks like a cool dude though :)

Hello, I am a new member and new owner of a 3.5 old giant named Drax. He's really giving us a time! He's smart, has learned sit, sleeps all night in his crate and is mostly potty trained. Our issue is his constant puppy biting at us, and now he is challenging me if I try to go out in the yard with him. He jumps up on me and tries to bite at me. And no amount of me telling him sit or standing still or anything else I try stops him.

Hi Patti, welcome to the forum. I assume Drax is 3.5 months old... would love to see a photo of him.

What about his toys. At the moment he probably thinks you are the toy and you are very interesting to play with. Try using something unconventional like a small bucket, gardening/working gloves, plastic pot or container that he can run around with and that makes a noise and be prepared to swap it for another one when he has worn it out. My dog loves playing with a flower pot, they don't last long with him but he loves putting his nose in it and running fast. Just try to keep thinking one step ahead of him. I imagine boredom and idle hands/paw are your enemy with Drax.
