Hi from Ireland

Post by woolyb »

Hi - I’m hoping to become a miniature schnauzer owner soon. I’ve joined this forum to help my husband and I learn as much as we can to prepare and be the best schnauzer parents we can be! We fell in love with this breed on our travels around England and Ireland. We’ve been looking for a pet now that we’re empty nesters. Initially we thought a rescue dog might work but it’s been very hard to find a breed that doesn’t have an aggressive history. I’m a bit daunted by the thoughts of training a pup so hope to find lots of info and support here.

Thanks Anne

Hi and welcome
How far along are you with your search? Schnauzers are very good at training their owners if you don't train them first =))

Welcome to the Forum :)

Have a browse through the topics in the Board Index as there is plenty of useful information there but feel free to ask any questions about the breed, finding a reputable breeder, nutrition, training etc. too.

Welcome. I agree with Alison, I am part way through my training now. I think Otto is reasonably pleased with how I have turned out.

Thanks for the warm welcome and good advice. We’re still doing our homework. There aren’t as many reliable IKC registered breeders in Ireland, so we will need to wait a while. Plus I need to source day care as I work part time and don’t want to leave a dog home alone for hours on end. Meantime I’ll read as much as I can to prepare.
