I decided to experiment yesterday with a recipe adapted from here http://www.bullwrinkle.com/Assets/Recipes/Recipes.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I made up this little recipe, which has worked well:

2 apples, grated
a few slices of dried banana chips broken up into small pieces
1/4 cup blackstrap molasses
1/2 cup of water
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon organic milled flaxseed
1 cup organic oats
1.5 cups whole wheat organic flour
1/4 cup whole wheat flour

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 ° F (180 ° C).

Core and grate the apple (use a food processor if you have one). In a large bowl, combine the apple, banana, molasses, flaxseed, water, cinnamon, and oatmeal. Gradually blend in the flour, adding enough to form a moist dough.

Spread the mixture evenly onto a baking sheet covered with greased proof paper.

Bake for around 45 minutes. Remove from oven, leave to cool for 5 minutes then cut into squares whatever size you want to use and leave to cool.

Next time, I plan to add some dried pineapple pieces instead of or as well as the banana pieces.

Hi
I made the peanut butter and the Beef liver ones (only I used Lamb liver) from this site really good, the peanut butter ones I rolled put the lot in the tray in one piece marked 1/2 way through with a knife in 1/2" squares so it would break and it worked ok.

very popular, they love them, must say the liver one with it 12-14 cloves of garlic in was stinky.

Decided to make these this morning, I added a small amount of chopped dried bacon that needed using up, they are a complete success with the girls, they sat patiently by my feet the whole time they were being prepared & gobbled up their first taste.

Now the oven's full of liver strips drying & some sweet potato slices. A nice way to spend a quiet Sunday.

Finally got round to making the peanut butter ones & did as you suggest JudiAnne, they're a success, the girls love them, I've cut them into small pieces as Susie-Belle is supposed to be on a diet. (giggle)

I've been making these Apple Cranberry biscuits for Alf since December and he's still delighted.

Im just bumping this thread as Bean / Joy has just been asking on another thread about dried liver and I mentioned liver cake. Theres a recipe at the beginning of the the thread.

One tip I would add is cut the raw liver into tiny pieces BEFORE liquidising. This will save a whole load of time cleaning around the blade afterwards. If you don't all the tuby sinew bits wrap around and are a devil to get off. I also prefer to use lambs liver.

It also works well using tinned tuna, mackerel, sardines the ones in spring water.
