https://www.hillspet.co.uk/productlistHill’s Pet Nutrition is voluntarily recalling select canned dog food products due to potentially elevated levels of vitamin D.
While vitamin D is an essential nutrient for dogs, ingestion of elevated levels can lead to potential health issues depending on the level of vitamin D and the length of exposure, and dogs may exhibit symptoms such as vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, excessive drooling, and weight loss. Vitamin D, when consumed at very high levels, can lead to serious health issues in dogs including renal dysfunction. Pet parents with dogs who have consumed any of the products listed and are exhibiting any of these signs should contact their veterinarian. In most cases, complete recovery is expected after discontinuation of feeding. The affected canned dog foods which were manufactured by the Hill’s Pet Nutrition facility in Topeka, Kansas (EU approval # KS-PF0-0004) were distributed through retail pet stores and veterinary clinics and e-commerce. No dry foods, cat foods, or treats are affected.

Hills pet food recall
Below is an extract from Hill's UK website.

Rupert, black mini, 24/12/10 - 01/03/24
Watson, black mini born 21/02/12
I offer my advice freely, but I am not an expert, breeder, groomer or behaviourist. It is simply my experience of raising pups in a way that seems to make sense.

Re: Hills pet food recall
The recall of certain tinned products from this company has been expanded to include more products. There are now law suits pending in the USA against the company for failing to act sooner as some dogs have sickened and died as a result. The reason for the elevated levels of Vitamin D is due to a "Vitamin pre-mix" formula added to the food.

This does highlight a potential problem with processed foods which are formulated using products from a range of suppliers and the need to add back nutrients lost due to the production process.
This link is the recent one, to add to Dean's link above, as regards products affected from the UK Hills website:
