Calendar

Post by Dinkum »

Every year I do a calendar for family and friends as a stocking filler with pictures of the boys that I have taken (or others have taken) throughout the year. Each photo kind of reflects the time of year or what we were doing at that time of year. For example, next year's calendar has a picture of Watson at Dovedale for May as that's what we were doing at the time. Each calendar normally cost me around £5, so quite a nice stocking filler. I thought it would be a nice idea if we did a Schnauzer Forum Calendar for next year, collecting pictures over the year and then having a poll to choose the favourite one. We can then donate any proceeds to the Schnauzer Eye Fund.

I was thinking of creating a topic for each month starting with December this year. Members can then post a suitable picture into that month. Christmas pictures are good for December and snowy pictures perhaps for January, At the end of the month, we can vote on the photo and decide on our 3 favourites. Once we have the 3 favourites, we can then vote for 1 of them to go into the calendar. The choice for December will then be the picture for December 2014 in the Calendar. In January, there will be new topic and that photo will be the January 2014 picture and so on.

I was thinking that we would limit each member to one entry per month, so that everyone has an opportunity to enter. Members would also have to waive their copyright to the photo if it to be published and used as a fund raiser. The winning photo will also have to be of a high enough quality that we can use it to print, so a mobile phone may not work.

I'd like to get your thoughts on the idea, good or bad. If it is something that members would be interested in, we can get started.

I use http://www.Snapfish.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; They often send me voucher codes in the lead up to Christmas and it is normally 50% off their calendars. The kitchen calendar that I order is normally £9.99, so with my 50% off it comes in at a fiver. At the moment, they have 50% of canvases and I am considering getting one. The bigger calendar is normally £14.99, so that would come in at £7.50. Handy stocking fillers.

Really good idea Dean - there have been some stunning photos I've seen here on the Forum and I've often thought that I would love to be looking at that picture of a month! Calendar is a grand idea. Thanks a lot for organising it. Now, can I get a worthy photo of Monty .......... mmmmmmmm :)
