I am going to groom all my boys now!!!!

Grooming is an important part of looking after your Schnauzer. Regular grooming will help keep your Schnauzer healthy and comfortable and you will spot potential problems early. Whether you decide to clip or strip your Schnauzer, help is on hand. Schnauzers are generally a non-shedding breed and will require a fair amount of grooming to get rid of dead hair.

I am going to groom all my boys now!!!!

Post by lj_thorne »

There I've said it!!! The groomers cancelled !!! Eek!

So I have been stripping Sherman since I got him and have clipped his chest and face and bum! He needs a tidy up this weekend but I'm pleased so far!

Albert was last at the groomers about 14 weeks ago. I am growing his eyebrows out patiently since his last groomers visit!
ImageImage

And Barnaby.... Well I sent him to the groomers 2 weeks ago as a farewell visit as we've been with her 4 years. I wanted her onside incase I struggle at any point!
Well I think she rushed him ... I wish I had never sent him. Anyway he had a wash and a tidy up.! Again the eyebrows need to grow after being 'groomed' !!!!

Anyway stripping two and clipping one is keeping me out of mischief!!!!!

This was Barnaby straight after his groom ...
I had said keep the legs long - Nope chopped! And shaped feet when I had them straight down
Eyebrows leave - she cut them
Beard leave - she trimmed it!!!!!
And she didn't trim the ears or blend his legs or skirt!!! Anyway this was him before the groom

He did need a tidy and a clip!

I am soooooo pleased you have made this decision - you are doing a really great job with Albert and Sherman and I know that you can do Barnaby justice too :-bd

They always look stunningly clean, neat and tidy and put my two scruff bags to shame ;)

Glad you've taken the plunge , it gets easier each time and you can do bits as and when you like.... I often stretch out grooms now on Monty and Maisie by just doing ears , neck, cheeks and bum as a put me by until the next full groom. You've bought good equipment too which helps.

Good decision :-bd

Your experience with Barnaby is why Barney has never been to a groomer =)) I hate to see the poodle feet trim [-x At least sorting eyebrows out will be easier on yours than on a solid colour :)) Nearly 2 years of grooming and I still havent got them right =))

I've taken the leap too and bought a set of (cheaper) clippers to do bum and armpits between proper grooming sessions. I'm going to wait until her next cut so my Groomer chum can supervise me :)

You've got three lovely dogs there and they all look like they have good furnishings. I bet it's a lot of work but so worth it as you can stage their grooms to suit your own time and do them more often now it's done at home. They all look great!

I won't lie stripping two is definitely quite time consuming!!!! But I am enjoying it and the money saving aspect of it too has meant I managed to convince my hubby I needed a dog blaster and new scissors!!!!
Here's the two b/s recently

I can't believe how fast Sherman has grown and he's looking lovely and slim - I imagined him being a chunky monkey as he was such a big pup. They all look great - impressed :)

I know he's grown up so quickly!!! We are firmly in adolescence here ... The oh I can't hear you stage!!!!
Love him to bits he has the loveliest personality and even if people don't want to say hello to him out and about they are all drawn to him as he does his 'waggle dance' on the end of the lead :D

I'm thinking about maybe trying him out as a PAT dog once he's old enough.. I think it's something that could be good for him and me to get us out and about ! My mobility isn't great so we have little trots around accompanied by sits by benches... The best place to meet toddlers and the elderly !

And yes he's slimmed beautifully and is just above 9kg currently he's a solid lad and about 14.5 inches I think :)

What gorgeous boys they are. Sherman has grown up so much! I have total envy where the white bits are concerned! How do you keep the beard so white? I am with Kate; these beauties would put my Ollie to shame! Scruffy boy that he is!

We brush him daily (when he is tired and will keep still for longer than 2 seconds! =)) ) and he looks just about presentable for all of about 5 minutes and then his beard appears to have a life of its own going all skewiff, his eyebrows are one-up-one-down and his legs look dirty again! Ha! :D
