Remembering Caoimhe

Saying goodbye to our Schnauzers is the hardest part. Share your memories here as we bid farewell to our beloved friends. They've crossed the bridge and returned to the meadow in full health and free of injuries. Running free. We won't forget.

Remembering Caoimhe

Post by zeta1454 »

Five years ago today, a beautiful miniature schnauzer puppy was born who came to live with us at 8 weeks old. We named her Caoimhe which means "gentle, beautiful and precious" and she was all three.

Within weeks of her puppy vaccinations her life and our world turned upside down - neurological damage almost certainly caused by the vaccines resulted in her becoming paranoid, terrified, hyperactive and eventually fear aggressive. Some of her story can be read here:

viewtopic.php?f=49&t=12073" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

When her life ended at 16 months of age, none of our family ( dogs and humans) remained unaffected by what happened. Five years on scarcely a day goes by when I do not think about her. Through the tragedy of her short life, Caoimhe opened my eyes to the dangers of so many pharmaceutical products to which dogs ( and other animals) are subjected daily and led to major changes in how we now care for our canine family.

Remembering our gentle, beautiful and precious girl with love always.

My thoughts are with you all, it is so upsetting losing a dog full stop let alone at such a young age. I hope she is happy running in the sunshine and looking over you
