Searching for a puppy

Post by Richerie »

Hello schnauzer lovers.
I am new to the forum and I am in need of some help from you. We already have a gorgeous schnauzer called Alvin and are wanting to add to our family. I am looking for a breeder. I have been on the KC website looking and know what to ask and what we are looking for but I like to get personal recommendations too.
I have a daughter who is 13 and fantastic with her responsibilities and love for Alvin so we would love one to fit with them. He is 7 but still just like a puppy and acts younger than he is. The breeder we got him from doesn't breed anymore. We are waiting until September/October time so all our camping holidays are over until next year to ease him in the family before he starts camping with us all next year.
We live in north east Lincolnshire but are willing to travel any recommendations would be fantastic by private message.
Thank you
Cherie x

Hi cherie
we live in North East Lincs and have a b/s mini that is now 18 weeks. I got a list of breeders from the Northern Schnauzer club and just rang round. There was quite a few on the list that didnt breed anymore and not that many local to us. I did find one in north lincs that sounded very good, but they were not due a litter for some time. In the end we found our lovely boy from a hobby breeder in bradford. He was in a home like ours with hustle and bustle and was very well socialised. The breeder wasnt on the list or anything, and in the end i just went with my gut instinct and spent quite a bit of time at the house watching the other dogs etc. I do think once you go see pups it is very easy to fall for them and walking away is harder. So vet the breeder over the phone lol. We are very happy with our boy, but i did break my own rule of not going with an assured breeder etc. Good luck in your search. Was it a mini you were looking for or a standard?
