Re: A thread for Rosie and Edie
I checked in to make a short post about Edie and her grooming and have ended up typing with one hand as first Edie, then Rosie wanted up on my lap for a cuddle and snooze. It's funny how they persist with this as I know that within a short time they will both want off when they get too hot
They are establishing a great relationship. I've been carrying Edie while walking Rosie but this morning has been so wet so left Edie at home while Rosie and I braved the rain. My wife said that Edie was whimpering for a while after we left and they were both very happy to see each other after the walk.
Edie gets her 2nd jabs in a week but I've been getting her used to collar and lead at home in the garden. AT the start it was like trying to break a stallion She's such a feisty little bundle.

Re: A thread for Rosie and Edie
That is exactly what happened to me with Sasha.
I took Oscar out on his own for his walks (as normal) when Sasha was a puppy and my wife would tell me that Sasha would be whimpering at the door until we came home. So I relented and bought one of those silly puppy carry bags things, like a rucksack, just so in the those early days/weeks, Sasha could come out with us.
Suffice to say that didn't last long, it was like having a wriggly worm in there, as she constantly struggled, wanting to get out and explore
But at least she was out with us

Re: A thread for Rosie and Edie
I did the same as Mike,I've never left the pup at home...when they get too big for the bag,the pup got a coat and walked In the rain too..my dogs love their walks,we go in rain, snow, all weathers and never miss a walk..when we get home they get blow dried and relax ,in winter,in front of a log stove..for me the things the pup experiences when young make them the dog you want to live with later..

Re: A thread for Rosie and Edie
Both girls are getting on well with each other but Edie is teaching Rosie bad habits. Rosie has always been a gentle, well behaved girl who was keen to please but now she digs up the flowerbed, being influenced by Edie!!
It's actually quite funny to watch. Edie takes herself off and you can see Rosie watching her disappear. Rosie looks at us to see what our reaction is going to be and then she slips off to join Edie.
I keep Edie on a long lead and if she doesn't return will be gently encouraged to respond to a pull on the lead and a treat if she comes over.
It's astonishing how different their personalities are and yet they make a fantastic union. We're lucky to have them both.
We've sorted out mealtime. Rosie is a grazer whereas Edie is a gannet (or vacuum cleaner). We feed them side by side with the water bowl between their food dishes and keep Edie on her lead so she can't pinch Rosie's food. What's great to observe is that neither of them guard their food; they are happy to share

Re: A thread for Rosie and Edie
Sam,
I really don't want your post to be "all about me" but the similarities between Rosie/Oscar and Edie/Sasha are really spooky - I smile every time you post about them.
From what you describe Oscar is the spit of Rosie and introducing Sasha (or Edie) is like a whirlwind entering our lives. But like you said, they really do get on with one another and Sasha looks for Oscar all the time. She wants the toys he plays with, if you show him some love/cuddles she will come over and barge her way in between to make sure she gets the cuddles. She tries to sleep next to him and when out and about, she follows him like a shadow. And now and again, like Edie, Sasha will lead Oscar into mischief
I love their differences though and as much as I love Oscar and his calm/quiet ways, I also love Sasha and her propensity for mischief and being an all round minx

Mike,
Please just keep posting and have no concerns about "being all about you". It's lovely to know that someone else has gone through a similar experience and made it out, relatively unscathed, to the other side. I love to see photo's and read stories about these special dogs.
