Poor Daisy - feel horrible
So I’m away in Cornwall for a wedding and I get a call from the dog sitter asking if the head wobble daisy has is normal.
I ask for a video and I’m shocked as it seems daisy has a real problem. The dog sitter has done a great job of looking after her but vet says she’s suffered a neurological event and I’m devastated. She looks like a Parkinson’s sufferer and is in a bad way. I’m heading back home tomorrow from a wedding in the south and I hope to god I can see her in a reasonable state.
Devastated.

Gary, it is so so rotten when they are poorly and you aren't there. Hoping Daisy is okay.

Re: Poor Daisy - feel horrible
Update from the dog sitter is that she’s wobbly, unable to toilet and cannot bend to reach food or water bowls.
I suspect we’ll have to make a decision in her interests quite soon. A horrible position to be in.
I’ll care for her as long as possible so long as she’s willing and not in pain.
I feel incredibly sad. But I try to think of the four years we’ve had with her and she’s been, for the most part, deservedly spoiled.

Re: Poor Daisy - feel horrible
She’s back home with us. She has severe vestibular disease, nystagmus, can’t stand for long, falls and walks in circles etc.
We’re just going to have to support her best we can and see if she improves or not as there’s not much else we can do.

Re: Poor Daisy - feel horrible
Well we’re a week on since the event now and she’s making incremental improvement. She’s still unsteady and has a head tilt due to the vestibular disease but the head shaking and nystagmus have stopped. For the first time in a week she started barking at me yesterday for attention. I’ve missed that bark, something that used to make me go nuts.

Glad to hear that Daisy is showing signs of improvement. Every day we have with these lovely dogs is special.
I trawled through your old posts to read of how she came to be with you and found it very moving. They all mean a lot to us but I've no doubt there's a special bond between you two.
