Jasper's puppy days

It's always good to look back on how much they change over the months and bring back happy memories at a later date.

We went to register at the vets today, Jasper got weighed and he's 2.86 kg and somewhere between 9 and 9.5 inches at the shoulder. We're sure he's got bigger in the 5 days we've had him.

He's now met Barneys best friend Teddy (a neighbours dog who thinks our house is a second home). Image

This was Barney and Teddy when Barney was 11weeks old, don't think Jasper is going to be that big at 11 weeks :))

So nice to see a picture of Barney when he was a puppy, what a handsome chap - Jasper has a lot to live up to but I'm sure he will get there :ymhug:

Hopefully Jasper and Teddy will get on and become good play-pals too.

I went out with Rosie and Edie tonight to meet Jasper for the first time. It has to be said, he's absolutely gorgeous with a lovely temperament. I should add that it's the first time that I've met Alison and her husband and they are both lovely people. We got on so well that I've been invited to be Jasper's Dogfather (OK, I made that last bit up ) :))

As you would expect, I took a few snaps.

What beautiful pictures, I'm sure Alison will be very happy to see these.

Looks like you could have a new full-time job Sam as 'Schnauzer Forum' resident photographer :)

Please let me know when you plan a trip over to Surrey so we can meet up for a photographic session with Oscar and Sasha :D

Alison, your Jasper is just the cutest puppy I have seen in a long time. I feel myself weakening in my "no more Schnauzers' mantra every time I see pictures of him - it feels like a 3rd, especially a white Schnauzer, would be a perfect addition :o3

We all had a lovely time and must have been on the beach 1.5 hours. He had 5 min nap in the car on the way home, then was doing zoomies for 45mins when we got home :-o Its always nice meeting people and dogs in the flesh, even better when you find you like them in person/dog :))

Heres my photo contribution cant leave the girls out

Okay, I'm just putting it out there that I plan to get over to Guernsey somehow and carry out a 'dognap' :) - Jasper will become 'Wilf' our third Schnauzer family member :D

I know I keep saying it but he is adorable :ymhug:

We've had our adorable bundle of fun for a week now so how's he getting on.

Positives
-Toilet training going well only had about 5 wee, no poo accidents in the house and one of those was 3 floors up in his grans flat but he went on the lino. He went into the kitchen at home to do one and found a piece of paper and weed on that another time bless him

- Sleeping in his crate he's going from last wee at around 1.30-2am sleeping through to 7.15 - 7.45 and giving a squeak for a wee out when he wakes up. Sleeps well in his office crate in the day.

- Knows sit command in the house and getting there outside

- Worked out offering a sit brings good things. He comes and sits to be picked up to come on the sofa. When I'm in the kitchen he just comes and sits then keeps getting fed treats for as long as he sits. Which for him to stay still is very good.

-Loves playing with his toys

Negatives
-PUPPY TEETH =))

- Far too much energy (not a negative really just jealous :)) )

If he's awake he has to have something in his mouth and be on the move. I give him a piece of tripe or fish skin thinking he'll lay down and chew, nope he walks around chewing it still investigating as he goes. I've started teaching him the touch command today. I'm hoping that by touching my hand with his nose then treating he will learn just touching not trying to chew your fingers and arm off gets him rewards. Don't know if it will work that way but touch command is a good one to teach anyway.

In his puppy carrier this morning. The only reason he's not trying to climb out is he has his harness on and is strapped inside :)) I was putting my shoes on yesterday and he went and laid on his carrier ready to go
