Puppy papoose recommendation

Found a nice dog coat? Found a cozy pub that's Schnauzer friendly or even a Schnauzer friendly B&B. Feel free to share it here. Basically anything that we would want to buy for our Schnauzer goes here.

Puppy papoose recommendation

Post by wifeofjp »

Hi - our new pup is due to be with us at the end of the month, and am looking for a recommendation for a papoose/carrier so I can take her out and about with me. We didn't bother when we had Wilf, we just carried him in our arms, but as I'm going to be out and about with both of them, I thought it would make sense to have something that is a bit safer and more secure.

I am hoping that will be able to get something that will last as she grows - we do some quite long walks and so will be needing to carry her some of the way when she's 6months - think Wilf was around 7kg when he was that old.

Has anyone any products you'd recommend?

Thanks in advance.

Lou

We had one for Reilly. It is a single strap backpack which sits on your chest. It is top opening with plenty of mesh panels and a strap to stop them jumping out. I forget what we paid for it but it wasn't very expensive. Have a look at eBay, you will probably find lots of them.

Struggling to find a single strap one which isn't a sling but think this may do the trick http://www.petplanet.co.uk/product.asp? ... f_id=61581" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

Has anyone used of these?

This isn't like ours but it's similar.

Also considering these:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kyjen-Outward-H ... al_qh_dp_i" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Have a while before need to make decision though :-)

Personally, I think the first one is too small. The second one is more like (but not the same) what I was talking about.

Thanks Eddie. This the outward hound one may be better for my back too - centred in the front so won't be lopsided :-)

Will let you know what I decide on.

I have ordered the Outward Hound PetaRoo - so like a back to front rucksack. Will let you know how I get on when it, and she, arrives.

I had the Outward Hound back to front back pack. It was good for a bit, but Pixie decided she should be down on the ground running around with big sis before her jabs allowed :ymdevil: My tip would be to feed the pup some of their food from and early age in the carrier to make it more enticing than being with big bro fur/sis fur!
Although you've ordered yours, for anyone else wanting one, I'd look on e-bay, which is where I sold mine on, virtually good as new.

I did look on ebay, but couldn't find any second hand.

Tis done now anyway, and hopefully can sell it once pup has outgrown it (or save it for if (when!) we get another :-D

Wasn't great - Olive just fidgeted the whole time. You're welcome to have it - exciting news about your pup :-)
