Stairs.......
This may sound like a very silly question but how do your schnauzers climb the stairs? My 1st schnauzer Oscar used the stairs at a very young age and climbed up one front leg on one step next front leg on next step if you see what I mean so he ran up. I didn't let Otto use the stairs until he was a year old so he has always been a bit hopeless until he learnt how to do it. The thing is he jumps up both front legs on one stair at the same time so he frog jumps. I think this is because he didn't learn when he was young....how do yours do it?

Re: Stairs.......
Mine all do it differently. We have open plan stairs which I think are a bit alarming to Angel, so far she won't even try them. Albert leaps up them, but he leaps everywhere.

Re: Stairs.......
Oscar and Sasha go up the same way you described your Oscar navigated them, running up. Obviously when they were much younger they used to climb up and down one at a time, which was very cute

Re: Stairs.......
We live in a bungalow and only have a few steps down off the patio. The cliff path steps can be really tricky they are different heights, depths in the same sections.
Barney would bound up pushing off his back legs and using two front paws at the same time sometimes 2 at a time. Going down steep steps he was amazing to watch he would almost walk down them on his two front legs with his back legs just occasionally touching.
Jasper is a different kettle of fish he basically gets up anyway he can legs going in all directions but still makes it up quicker than me. Coming down he tries to go too fast and will just leap down a load at once or fall down. He has no sense of self preservation He doesn't bother with the patio steps just leaps off the top

Re: Stairs.......
Barney sounds like Otto although occasionally there is a bit of a Jasper thrown in and a splat on the steps normally going up.

Re: Stairs.......
Both of mine go up (and down) front feet and back feet at the same time.
Here's a demonstration of them coming down and you can see they both keep back legs together and front legs together. Edie though usually goes at full tilt so she has all 4 paws on the same step

Re: Stairs.......
Different styles of stair climbing and descending here! I think it is worth saying Ollie was in a bungalow before he came to us so had a year of no stairs (ie. from being a puppy). He goes up one foot at a time, as we would, "right front, left front" unless he is in a hurry/frightened of missing something then he runs both legs together like a gallop, sometimes 2 steps at a time (he does have long legs!). Coming down it is more the momentum that carries him and he does the gallop but flicks his back right leg out. Always done it, nothing wrong with his leg, even had it checked! He can put weight on it but chooses to do the weird bunny hop downstairs!

Re: Stairs.......
Ozzy bunny hops up the steps, usually doing two at a time since I'm in a bungalow with very narrow steep steps to the basement. Also the few stairs going down from the deck outside to the garden. He didn't go down the steps until he was about 5 or 6 months, I didn't pressure or coax him to use the stairs and he just decided to use them on his own as he became a big boy. He likes to jump the last step going down for a big finally.
Pretty sure my other two minis bunny hopped as well.
