Energy surges after eating and avoiding bloat
Does any one else suffer mad energy surges after their Schnauz has been fed? Heidi has always been a pain after eating trying to bully everyone and anyone to play with her, rolling all over the floor and throwing toys about. It is even worse when she has really enjoyed her dinner we are now into 1hr 20 mins of her euphoric state as she has had roast chicken dinner tonight!! (question) It has nearly driven us mad as the last thing you want to do is energetic play in case of bloat, please say it's not just our nutty dog that does this! (giggle)

Re: Energy surges after eating
In our house dinners have always been followed by grazy play sessions.
Archie used to go ballistic, spin like a nutter and knock Lizzie over regularly.
Seems to be the same with Enzo and Luigi which means I now have a complete mayhem after din dins [doggy]

Daisy does sometimes, but last time she got mad zoomies after eating she was sick, so we've put a top to that.

My two have theirs before - they seem to go nuts when its coming up to dinner time, then charlie tries to wipe his beard over anything and everything when he's eaten

Blue goes demented before her tea. She is much more chilled once she has eaten it.

Re: Energy surges after eating
My boy has the mad moments as well after eating, but I do not encourage it. I give a difficult kong or something to settle him down after eating, and I try to ignore his madness. Sometimes I have to tell him to "settle down or else..."
The reason is the worry of bloat in large dogs. If that wouldn't be a worry, I would utilise these moments and incorperate training to the high energy moments (nerd)

Re: Energy surges after eating
Yes, our two are the same as Heidi, there is always 10 minutes or so of madness after their meal before the calm down, starts off with a gentle play fight which leads to a boxing match until I step in - boring old me (giggle)

Have to say Obi doesn't get excited before or after. Put a ball in his bowl though and things would be a different matter
