My giant schnauzer Ralph has a growth on the inside of his left leg which I thought was a tick. I tried to get it off, but it seems to be attached. Can anyone suggest what it could be please?. I will be taking him to the vet to check it out.

Is it a skin tag? Try googling the images of dog skin tag to see if it looks the same. They do need to get checked out. I remember having one on my 1st schnauzer and initially tried to remove it because I thought it was a tick. It turned out to be a harmless skin tag.

Hi, I will check this, thank you. It’s round & shiny like a small broad bean, I felt awful as I tried to get it out thinking it was a tick
I’m hoping it’s not cancerous

Don't be too hard on yourself, I tried to remove a nipple once with a tick twister, Otto was extremely tolerant about it.

Embarrassingly I did the same as Julie with Sasha, my girl mini, when she was a puppy. I'm such an idiot. I was tickling her tummy and then thought 'oh my God, what's that', started trying to prise it away then realised what it was....doh!
Hopefully it's nothing serious for Ralph.

It could well be a tick as they do attach quite firmly while feeding.

However, your vet will confirm and probably best now to let it be until you have a diagnosis. We had a cat with a tick (many years ago now) which we thought was a skin growth before it was removed by the vet and we were better able to identify them from then on

It looks like a tick but it’s tough as old boots. I’ve removed ticks off him before, he’s had
frontline flea & tick as well. If it turns out to be a tick it must one fit strong
tick.
