The extra's from a responsible breeder....

Post by Caramomo »

I saw this post in a blog not very long ago and it talks about what your money buys when you buy a puppy from a responsible breeder instead of the less ethical sources. It talks about the socialisation and care a breeder shoudl put in to give their puppies the best ever starts. If you want a puppy that will turn into the best dog in the world; happy, healthy, calm, sociable that you can take anywhere on your family days out then you need to look for the best possible breeder you can find, and this post talks about the extra's a responsible breeder does;

And Ian Dunbar's own website;

And if there is anyone out there reading this that thinks 'It won't happen to me, I'll be fine, I just want a pet' Then please read this page from people that have got a puppy from a pet store or puppy farmer. These puppies can be cheaper and some can be more expensive (some rediculously so) then their responsibly bred cousins; but they all have two things in common - a sick puppy and a seller that, after they have your money, couldn't give two hoots about your new family member, or the thousands you're paying out in vets bills.

Cara and Mo, two black mini's and Molly a black & white Heinz 57 all served by Elaine, the cook, poop picker, and chief toy thrower.
I live by the Mini Schnauzer code; when in danger or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout!

Absolutely top post by Elaine, I have already looked at most of the ones about Puppy Farmers horror stories as they are my major pet hate X( X(

Temperament and socialisation is high on our own list and we are spending a lot of time socialising our own pups at the moment; getting all sorts of different people to come and visit them (Hmmm funny we didint get as many visitors before the pupsters arrived though....... :-\ :-o )

A good breeder will also care about who their pups are going to and will ask lots of questions about a potential new custodian for one of their puppies.
