Re: First Aid kit
I have antiseptic powder, styptic powder, stretchy bandage that sticks to itself plus micro pore tape to finish it with, Baby socks and a lace up boot. This was from a broken claw incident a few years ago.
Salt water, home made lavender spray have replaced tree cream and surgical gloves complete the set.
I did have hydrocortisone cream plus one with antibiotic from Toby but have not replaced it for Roxy.
Oh - I also have a soft muzzle which could be useful in the event of a serious injury.

And I forgot: 2 different sizes of tick removers plus a spare set for travelling with. This was following a holiday in the New Forest when Toby got 3 ticks in his face.
Now we are prepared......

I have bandages, dressings, scissors, micro pore tape and gloves.. Baby socks are a good idea, will pick some of those up. Guess a muzzle is a good idea, worries me that they'd be that hurt they'd last out, but I guess it happens..
Where do you get the powders from? What's the styptic powder for?

Re: First Aid kit
The antiseptic powder is by Vetzyme from the pet shop. It goes into fur better than greasy cream for minor irritations or scratches.
The styptic powder was by Bio-groom. It stops bleeding fast by absorbing liquid and hardening. I found it at a dog show we were browsing round and needed it when I clipped nails too short by dispensing some on some kitchen roll to keep the rest dry. It used to be used by men after wet shaving in the past.
It is a yellow powder. I haven't needed any since I switched to grinding nails instead, much to Roxy's relief.
I do have a lampshade collar left over from Roxy's spay op. I suppose that counts as well.

Re: First Aid kit
It keeps getting added to as things happen
2 sizes of tick remover, both sizes have been used and have been the most used out of all first aid stuff
Individually wrapped antiseptic wipes for out and about
Hibiscrub (think that how its spelt) pink antiseptic wash available from chemist for human and dog
Sudocream thick barrier type cream for over licked bits and probably razor burn
Arnica tablets
Various sizes of dressings and tapes (part of human First aid)
Pro kolin for runny bum upset tum
Piriton tablets (for human and dog)
Vinegar and baking soda for stings (for human and dog)
Styptic pen
Medical activated charcoal for runny/ windy bum upset tum
Chicken, white fish and pumpkin in the freezer
A cone of shame was bought but a pair of boys Y front pants worked better to stop licking a sore.
Torch hung by the door in case of unexpected night visits. Except batteries were flat on the one occasion I needed it
More preventative than first aid, a dose of dorwest garlic and fenugreek tablets which he seemed to get fewer ticks when taking them.

Re: First Aid kit
Thanks folks. Have been picking bits up this week as I've seen them, we now have some baby socks (5 pairs for £1.50, good old Tesco value!).
I nearly picked up some Sudocream but wanted to ask anyone who's used it, do you have to cover the area with the cream on once you've used it, will it make the dog poorly if they lick it?
Will probably pick up some anti-septic wipes for my dog walking bag, was just looking at Arnica tablets and know people on here have used them, but why does some info tell you not to touch the tablets with your fingers?!

Re: First Aid kit
I used sudocream on Barneys testicle but he was wearing pants so couldn't lick it off. I'll have to check my arnica not seen that warning

Re: First Aid kit
It's not cause its dangerous, it's something to do with it's such a small dose if you touch them it's absorbed onto your skin and then ineffective if you ingest it, same with most if not all herbal pills I think, certainly is for the ones PJ has
