New rescue

Post by Phillyme »

Hi all

I'm new to the group but have just adopted a rescue that's a schnauzer mix and figured I'll probably need a little support! :)

Meet Max! He's about 3 years old and was rescued from Hungary. I've had him a little under 2 weeks and the change in him is amazing! When he arrived he was so nervous he slept by the front door. He's scared of cars, loud noises, men with walking sticks, and flinches and cowers if your hands move too quick. But he's really starting to trust me! Now when I hold my hand out he expects a treat or a stroke instead of being hit! He's learning his name and even beginning to learn to sit! I'm so proud of him.

Not had a Schnauzer before if he's a good representative, they're such a lovely breed! He's got the sweetest temperament considering his start in life! He's a mix so has some other stuff in him too but there's a lot of schnauzer. I need to learn how to manage his beard and those fabulous eyebrows. Will be taking him to the vets in a week or so to check his eyes but waiting for him to really settle and trust me.

So no questions yet but I'm sure there'll be a lot soon!
Pippa

Thanks! He does, doesn't he?!

I don't know much about schnauzers but this picture was taken before he was rescued. He looks like a different dog and I see very little Schnauzer in him. Maybe the paws... He was incredibly matted and had 46 (!) tics in him so he got a thorough clip.

Welcome to you and Max, I have 2 standards and they are wonderful and Max certainly looks more Schnauzer than anything else now he is clipped/stripped, not sure what he looked like before that though, he looked like an old man, bless him. Good luck with him for the future and please post more photos.

There's no wonder he looks happy in first photo getting rid of all that hair :-o

What a transformation, I cried when I saw the photo of him before he was clipped. He must have been so
uncomfortable, especially as he also had to cope with all those ticks :( But I think he has found his forever home, :) and he so deserves it.
Wishing Max and you a long and very happy life together. :ymhug: :ymhug:

Aww thanks everyone. He's improving everyday! It's so rewarding to see. It's only been a little over two weeks and the change in his confidence and calmness is fantastic. :)
