Event Calendar
Hello all.
One of the things we seem so struggle with is keeping up with the many walks, shows and fun days that we plan for our dogs. They tend to get lost in the many posts relating to these events. I know I have missed a few as there is no simple way to keep track of them, or easily change the date or start times etc.
So, I been looking into it and have come up with an Event Calendar that is now live on the forum.
You can find it to the right on the light blue bar just below the Schnauzer Forum logo. It's on the same line as view new posts, view active topics, etc. I've added a few July entries already to get you started.
A few features:
* The different events are colour-coded. Dog Walks, Dog Show and Fun Days. Let me know if we need more event types. Training day comes to mind. If you are the creator of the event, the event will be bold.
* You can RSVP to an event with a comment
* Events are editable, so you can change them if required.
* You can subscribe to the calendar, so you will receive notifications of new events.
* The next 5 upcoming events are listing on the main page http://www.schnauzer-forum.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
How to create an event:
1. When in the calendar view, either click on the day you want the event to happen or the little star in the date box that you want. If you are on the right date, it will show as the start date.
2. Give your event a title.
3: Check that the start date is correct
4. Untick the 'All day event' box if your event will only be an hour or 3.
5. Enter your start time.
6. Enter your end date.
7. Enter your end time.
8. Select your event type.
9. The event will be public to all to unless you select personal. In this case, only you will be able to see the event. You could use personal events to remind yourself about things like regular flea treatments, etc.
10. Ignore the group box.
11. Select whether you want people to be able to RSVP and track attendance.
12. Allow guests lets the person sending the RSVP to indicate how many people will be attending.
13. You can then write a normal post for the event as you would in the forum.
Once done, you can either preview or submit your calendar entry as normal.
Once you have created your calendar event, I suggest you start a post in the relevant section and link to your calendar event that people can RSVP.
As usual, let me know if there are any bugs or there is something that I can add.

I offer my advice freely, but I am not an expert, breeder, groomer or behaviourist. It is simply my experience of raising pups in a way that seems to make sense.

Re: Event Calendar
Just had a look at your list, wow you're very organised there, I was going to add a few that are coming up, didn't know where to start there are so many you've got listed! That's brilliant. I'll add the odd one to the calendar here to help build it as a resource, can't promise to do them all.Heikismum wrote:What a good idea you are welcome to use any off our website events page
