Hi Arie,

Rosie's a little treasure. She's very well behaved and just loves to please. She's now a little under 8 kg. I am stripping Rosie's coat though I do use clippers on her head, chest and butt, everything else is pulled.

I use a fine stripping knife, card her with it twice a week to take out the soft undercoat and strip her once a week. You don't need to pull Coffee's hair out until he's bald as you can roll his coat instead.

At 3 months you will probably just need to card him and get him used to being handled and to know that when you out him on the table to groom him, he needs to stay still and let you do whatever is necessary. It's about building up trust and confidence.

Have a search on the forum for stripping - there are a few very good threads with links to great videos on youtube.

Hi

If you are going to strip your pup, first you have to read up on the process and be confident in what you are going to do,before you even touch the dog...you have to know the difference ce between carding( removing undercoat) and stripping( pulling dead top hair..)
Your new craft will come with the need to buy the correct tools...Amazon is your best source..
To start you will need
A coarse stripping knife and a fine knife..Mars is a good brand.
A pin brush and a soft slicker brush for brushing your pup.
A pair of scissors. Roseline line , 6 inch ,straight edge.
A set of clippers for ears, head feet underpads and butt....I like cordless mosers.
A hairdrier( human turbo will suffice for the mini dog)
This is just to start ,but will save you In the long run.
I googled groomers in Indonesia..they seem like glorified pet shops ..you will be best suited to Learning to home groom..
I really urge you to read the grooming section here ,post by post..
Then visit u tube and watch them strip coat. Look at the way they strip out the dead coat..look at Kate werk videos..( google her)
If you are really keen to learn watch before you put hands on your dog...trust me you will be seeing this in your sleep...then you are ready to start on your pup...never plan to strip bare the coat...this is a drastic technique used by some show breeders...if you do the stripping each week as we will teach you here ,your pup will always look good but never be traumatized.

hi jo nice to meet you , cute robin got a really long beard,is she have a puppy yet? :)
for now i just comb him with dog flea comb, and some of the dead hair is plug, and the leg hair is like a matt very hard to comb.
he does not like to be comb , but i use dog food to give him treat to calm him down when i comb him. he can sit wait and get comb and when i say release command then he eat. :D. the face part is the most challenging.yes still reading learning about the grooming its very tricky. i read britmorschnauzer it show to plug the hair bald in section after section. but i thinks its very extreme. it just like hair waxing.:o3

Hi coffe. Do you have a name I can use?
If your pup has a lot of matting on the legs..I would do the following..
Take some conditioner for dry hair and rub into the dry legs on the dog...gently use a slicker brush on the matted areas..
Wait ten minutes..then bath the dog..shampoo and again put more conditioner on the legs ..again let it soak in before rinsing well
Now dry pup using hair drier, brush as you dry..
Next trim the leg hair really short, cutting away the mats that remAin.. Your pup will tolerate brushing better if these are removed..

My girl Robin is three and a half years old..she was spayed after her first season so no pups for her.

Re the beard..I comb this several times a day,no matting..after she's eaten,if it gets wet etc..I trim rarely, just the tips so the dead ends are removed..now and again , I pass a stripping knife through, like a comb and this pulls out the dead brown hairs ,so the beard stays black.

Hi Arie and welcome to the Forum.
Young puppies should have a good appetite while they are growing. If you think Coffee is very hungry all the time it could be a good idea to have a vet have a look at him to be sure he has no health problem such as worms. What food are you giving him? Is there a guide to the amount he should be eating on the packaging? Puppies need their food divided into 3 meals during the day until they are about 6-9 months old or even later if they are very small.

Puppies at this age should have only very short walks while their bones are growing. Coffee can have time exploring and playing but actual lead walks should be no more than about 15 minutes a day for now and build it up gradually.

There is a guide to puppy exercise on this link:

https://www.puppyculture.com/new-exercise-chart.html

Puppies do need to sleep a lot while they are young too. About 2 hours rest for every 1 hour activity during the day.

If Coffee is crying when he is left alone, you need to try and train him to settle down while you are out. Try leaving him for a very short time (just a few minutes) regularly and then increase the time he is left. Make sure he does not need to pee or poo and has had time to play so he is ready to rest before you leave. Maybe give him a little treat when you leave and another when you return. You could also leave chew toys like a Kong for him to keep him busy if he is awake. Coffee will be teething just now and that may be painful for him too.

Good luck - he sounds a sweet little pup :-)

Hi Arie,
I've found this breed to be very food orientated,we joke that Robin would also eat her bowl if we left it down..seriously,if you give the recommended amounts of food you have to be firm and keep to the schedule or your dog will become a pest and beg for more.Too much food can cause health problems for a small dog,so be firm .
It's getting hot here in Italy,30 c at this moment..we walk early, feed and my girl will crash out..mid day we will play indoor or ''I do some gardening with the dogs alongside..I may do some grooming or we can go to our malls...they let dogs in which is wonderful..Is that the same where you live? Iive found these great opportunities to socialise a young pup, without overexcercising...
You can tire a pup in many ways without walking..try teaching him a few basic commands..sit..come..give a paw and so on...
Even brushing him out,on a table once a day ,will tire him..and also be a good way to get him into a routine for his grooms ahead.
He must also have his place to go when you leave him..if it is the same place each time he will come to realise it's time to relax ..he will be happier to do this is he's been fed, allowed out to poo etc and had a bit of play time..
Routine is the key to success..its early days,so keep a routine that meets his needs but also makes your own routine flow smoothly.

Hi zeta thank you, yes thank you for the reminder i will give him worm pill. im giving the dry food kible. now iam giving him royal canin junior, mix with orijen puppy for snack.
but im changing now with taste of wild puppy. stoping the royal canin junior.im not following the guide amount, i think i feed him one day about 120-150 gr the guide is about 50gr :D now im reducing to 60gr-80gr. the guide is 50gr is this mean per day or per serve? sometimes when he bite/napping a lot, i give him punish for a walk and a little run after go home he exhausted and sleep. :D . he like to jump when play tug and war is this ok ?
Hi jo, yes they are when he see food he forget everything and he will do anything :)) . i used to bring coffee for a walk in the morning and evening, but now i just give him a short walk in the evening. its always hot here in Indonesia and because coffee do a lot of activity i give him shower twice a week with water only once and the second with shampoo after that give him baking powder with essential oil so he smell nice :x , no they dont give a permission for dog to enter a mall. only 1 mall in Jakarta central park and thats only outdoor walk. luckily where i live there is many neighbor with dogs but they are not so friendly there were a time a puddle try to attack coffee :)) and once coffee try to confront a stray cats and the cat smack him and now if he see a cat he just stop look and walk a way. =)) (i walk coffee with no leash)

Re food I give 140 grams dry a day, split into two servings..
For your pup I'd be giving at least three feeds a day.. Look at his body, check he has a waist, you should be able to feel his ribs covered by a thin layer of fat..50 gms a meal is ok for now ..three times a day..then reduce quantity a little as he grows.
I change from puppy food to adult around five to six months.
If you add extras to his kibble,be sure to reduce the amount of kibble to compensate..

Re off lead...as a pup he will follow you.....however,id add the lead training non the less ,as for sure he will test you when he becomes an adolescent..the lead will protect him ,so don't rule it out.

Hi Arie..how old is your pup? Your details on the right say he's born on May 10 .( and this post is June 20)..so he's very young to be stripping off the top coat yet..he's biting you because this top coat isn't ready to come out yet.u
Did you perhaps get him on May 10? Sorry I'm not clear how old he is..
Anyway.
You should be gently carding his coat so the undercoat only is combing out at this stage..by doing this gently, just once a week ,not every day ,will get him used to being groomed and he won't bite if he enjoys the process..
You can certainly brush him daily and he will enjoy this.
When he gets a couple of months older his top coat will start to shed ..you will be able to pull the top hairs and this is time to strip him, little by little, not all at once.
