Monty Is Growing Up!
Montgomery and I have found this forum invaluable to help guide us through his puppy days. At 6 and a half months old, Monty is really finding his feet/paws (and so are we as his humans!) After some concerns about his sensitive tummy, he is settled on a new food finally (Wainwright's Lamb and veg trays grain free) and the accompanying Wainwright's lamb treats. These are chunky treats so we split them into half a dozen tinier morsels. It's an adult food so we are hoping the transition is now complete for him - touch wood and all that. He is becoming a real character full of personality and we adore his quirks.
Likes:
Belly rubs
All mealtimes
Chewing his rope toys
His bed
Banana (when he sees us peel one he sits and stares in awe of the yellow fruit)
Feet with socks on them (still nipping occasionally when overtired)
The local dog friendly cafe
Saying hello to other dogs
Sleeping on his back under the nest of tables
Pre-breakfast cuddles
Cigarette butts (we are forever fishing these out of his mouth or testing out the 'leave it' command)
Dislikes:
The dyson - he will actually go up to where it is kept two or three times a day and growl at it before returning to nap on the carpet (just to show it who is boss)
Babies crying
Bath time
Men with beards
Motorbikes
Doing his business in the garden (he will wait for his walkies)
Today we went to Dovedale and he adored his long walk before heading to a cafe in Ashbourne. Here are some pics, and a pic of him as a little pup!

Re: Monty Is Growing Up!
Lovely pictures, what a handsome boy you are Monty.
My two love socks but best if rolled up and thrown, then played with/chewed for a while (by them of course)
Sasha hated the Dyson too but she is coming up for two in Sept and slowly but surely, she has made her peace with it

Lovely photos, he is maturing beautifully. I have a sock lover too, especially if you have just been wearing them. Seems to prefer OH's for some reason.

Re: Monty Is Growing Up!
Thanks all. He really is doing well.
We still have an issue with his teeth however, and he has been referred to a specialist vetinary orthodontist. Just by looking at him you wouldn't know anything was awry but open his little mouth up and you can see one of his lower canines pushing into his most outer upper incisor, pushing this incisor outwards. This means his lower canine is growing too straight and may eventually make its way to upper gumline or other soft tissue, so we need to get it sorted ASAP. He doesn't seem in any pain at the moment but he is drooling a little more than usual and his tear stains are prominent once more. He had them as a little pup but they disappeared by 14 weeks. The last fortnight has seen them re-emerge. I blame the teeth (but our vet would disagree!) There's talk of braces or shaving down the crown as a solution. We will see on 22nd July when we have our appointment. He seems to have been through a lot throughout his puppy hood!

Re: Monty Is Growing Up!
I missed the update on Monty somehow. Lovely pics of a handsome boy and great to read that things have settled down with his digestive system.

Re: Monty Is Growing Up!
Hi all,
Just a quick update on Monty. He now weighs 7.8kg at just over 8 months old so he's very much slowing down in terms of growth (about 300/400g in 2 months.) We think he's 14 inches at the shoulder, although he never stays still for long enough. He's a little tinker sometimes but in the most delightful way. He still sometimes goes for my feet when he wants me to sit so he can lie on them to sleep. He's great with kids and loves people. Still cautious with other dogs initially, but loves saying hello and playing.
His digestive system seems a lot stronger on the Yudigest - he has a one a day in his breakfast meal and has done now for over a month. He sometimes has the odd slice of cucumber or some mushy banana. The lamb grain free Wainwrights trays seem to suit him very well, although on occasion his poop can be very very crumbly and dry, then the next day totally normal, so still a little odd but nothing untoward. He doesn't drink massive amounts but he's definitely not dehydrated. We are tempted to add a little pumpkin with his meal (I've seen lots on tinned pumpkin without anything added) to help with things, but we'll see.
He adores the rain so we are out walking in all weathers, and he now enjoys a bath, shockingly! Still hates his ears being touched so they remain scruffy. And he has a little underbite. The vet dentist said his jaw is a little misaligned, so he's no show dog, but he reckons Monty's teeth are better left as they are otherwise it could create more problems than it's worth if he starts fiddling! He's in no pain (although does drool a little) and we think he's absolutely perfect exactly the way he is! We will have another check up with the dentist when Monty is 1.
Photos!
Monty's usual spot watching TV in the evening.
Eager to play all the time.
