Jasper's puppy days

The Miniature Schnauzer is a smallest dog in the Schnauzer breed and originated in the mid-to-late 19th Century from Germany. The Miniature Schnauzer is a cross between the Standard Schnauzer and other smaller breeds such as the Poodle. A miniature Schnauzer is a spunky, but aloof dog who does things their own way. They tend to be good guard dogs without the tendency to bite.

Hi Alison,

I was surprised how little undercoat Jasper had. At his age, even when being carded, the pups usually are bundles of fluff and he's simply a mini, miniature schnauzer, albeit one with legs that go on forever :)

I think you're right too; even if he was clipped he would simply be stubbly

Ive been in UK for a while looking after my Mum leaving Jasper to terrorize his Dad and big brother :)) He's grown again while I've been away filling out a bit.
Yesterday was the first time of cocking his leg up while out on a walk. Today he wouldn't go to the toilet while on a walk. It was his first proper walk in rain and he spent the time diving into doorways for shelter then found a dry archway and refused to budge an inch. I had to carry him back to the car :))

The dreaded herb bennet is in seed. He had them all over his legs and body

Lovely sunny walk on the beach yesterday

This was Barney in almost the same spot at the same age

Totally different body and limb shapes.

Tonight we have our first puppy class it should prove to be interesting hopefully he'll be on his best behaviour when out and not the Tasmanian devil he is at home :ymdevil: =))

Lovely photos of the boy, especially the one the same as Barneys. Just noticed that Jaspers tail goes one way and Barneys went the other, or is it because they were both wagging their tail at the time? How did the puppy class go, was he a good boy or the little devil dog?

Yes you're right Sue they go opposite ways. Jaspers tail is also shorter and seems thicker than Barneys.

We had good boy Jasper last night (*) trainers said he did lovely sits and downs. He was actually listening some of the time despite the other puppies ( 6 in the class) so I was impressed. There's a 13 week old mini schnauzer, Jasper dwarfs her, his legs must be twice the length of hers. It didn't tire him out though it was nearly 2 hours after we got home before he crashed out =))

Here we have a rare sight. Jasper sitting still and chillin' while on a walk :))

What a little star, maybe he was over tired if it took him 2 hrs to crash - does he do "ton ups" where he charges round with his bum tucked down and really goes for it, my 2 do occasionally now, but Worthy the Boxer used to do it often, and god help anyone in his way - I'm comin thro and not stopping for anyone!!!!!

Just normal zoomies last night. But the other night he came full pelt as you describe and leapt straight up on to the settee straight at OH head. It was funny for me watching and scary for OH all at the same time =))

Sam, yes it was Piper from Guernsey facebook. She wants her trained so she doesn't chase the house rabbit. The trainer said that's a challenge :))

I've been in UK again and Jasper has grown again while I've been away. I think he's nearly 13inch at shoulder now but still skinny mini. He's also found my apple tree. I think a few have teeth marks.
Image
While I've been away he's also worked out how to unzip his crate on a morning.
He's still visiting Barney's grave. The two of them would have got on well. Barney would have been the boss and Jasper his faithful follower.

Great photos :-) Love his cheeky face by the apple tree and the one of Jasper by Barney's grave is so touching.

Again, lovely photos Alison. He is growing into a handsome little chap, and the one on Barneys grave is so lovely, I'm sure he feels something to keep going there and it seems he know to respect there, as regards the apple tree, well alls fair in love and war!!!! :)) I have been looking out for photos and wondered why you haven't posted any, please keep them coming :)

The pic on the chair clearly shows how much he's grown! He's a lovely pup, Alison. I'm thrilled for all of you that he feels so "at home".
