Jasper's puppy days

The Miniature Schnauzer is a smallest dog in the Schnauzer breed and originated in the mid-to-late 19th Century from Germany. The Miniature Schnauzer is a cross between the Standard Schnauzer and other smaller breeds such as the Poodle. A miniature Schnauzer is a spunky, but aloof dog who does things their own way. They tend to be good guard dogs without the tendency to bite.

We've had a lovely walk in the woods this morning. Jasper got soaked with dew then went 90 miles an hour through the dirt and was black, so we finished off on the beach. I went in for a paddle to get Jasper in. He was jumping about like a loon =))

Do you find the long-line useful Alison? I never tried using it with my two when out and about on recall training etc - or is it that Jasper is a runner, so you use it to stop him going too far?

Lovely pictures again :)

.

This boy is like a cheetah crossed with an eel. He comes when called but at 90 miles an hour and forgets to slow down =)) and there's no point in trying to make a grab for him his reaction speed is lightening quick, plus I don't want anything negative happening when he comes. The longline means he can have some freedom but he can be safe. I have two, a short one that I just drop and he trails it around like on the beach but I can get hold of or put a foot on it if needs be, and a long one that I keep hold of and use more of a training line for recall and teaching him a distance I want him to stay within.

It's those legs that make him so fast. I reckon he could keep up with Edie now. He's now taller than the neighbours dog and hurdles over his back :))

Those seeds are a pain aren't they? Oscar and Sasha seem to attract them all the time and they are so fiddly to get out! The other thing they end up with sometimes is like a prickly ball, almost like a thistle that gets stuck in their fur, is it called a burr? Anyway, nightmare!

Lovely photos :)

Really pleased that you found it :)

If it's possible, Alison, he gets more and more handsome day by day. I really could take him home =))

I'm in UK again. I had a call from OH very late last night wanting vets number for emergency. OH had had some tinned prunes and left the stones in the dish. He left the room came back and saw Jasper chewing something it was a prune stone. He then looked in the dish, it was empty =)) Hed had 14 prunes so jasper had eaten 13 :ymdevil:

One vet visit an injection and lots of sick later all 13 prunes stones were accounted for :)) . Vet said he would be feeling sorry for himself for a while, not Jasper he got the zoomies when he got home =)) Vet was impressed he knew how many prunes hed eaten made it much easier to know everything was out. Jasper is fine this morning his usual cheeky self.

For anyone not realizing the stones on their own aren't good but prune, peach nectarines stone kernel etc contain cyanide. I don't compost any of them anymore so they don't end up in the garden.
