Re: weight at 6 months 7.2 kg!!
Tobias had his booster shots today and micro chip he’s a smidge over 6 months old and weighed in at 17lbs. I’m thinking he’ll be around 19 to 21 when he’s a year or so old.

Sounds like a good weight. Can you feel his ribs when you run your fingers over his side? Our Ozzy was was 18.5lbs at 7.5 months and he is now at 19.2lbs, so he wasn't gaining too much after 8 months.

That is one gorgeous Schnauzer!
So pleased to read this because one vet fat shamed my boy saying she liked her Schnauzers at 8kg, he’s not fat, sturdy but a good waist and is exactly a breed standard shape and carefully fed. Another vet said he was fine. Honestly he is solid but not fat.
Love your boy!!

Re: weight at 6 months 7.2 kg!!
I think that it is difficult to say whether a puppy’s weight is ‘normal’ especially when so many miniature schnauzers are not being bred to meet the ‘breed standard’ size. You would need to assess her weight along with her overall size as to whether or not Moussie is underweight as 4.5kg is light for a 9 month old mini if they meet the breed standard* for height. However, if she is a very small dog overall, this is not anything to worry about assuming she is fit, active and healthy. The sizes outlined in the breed standard are primarily of significance for dogs that are shown. The breed standard should outline the expected size for a healthy adult dog /bitch of the breed and the best representation of its ideal appearance but for pet dogs the priority is that they are fit and healthy whatever their size
* Ideal height: dogs: 36 cms (14 ins); bitches: 33 cms (13 ins). — from the UK Kennel Club
*Size - From 12 to 14 inches…..sturdily built, nearly square in proportion of body length to height - from American Kennel Club

My girl Lily is 4.62kg at 16 weeks. She's about 12.5 inches tall. The vet didn't expect her to get much larger.......we'll see

Re: weight at 6 months 7.2 kg!!
New here!
This thread has reassured me a little. Oskar was 6.4kg at the vet yesterday on his 15 week birthday. He’s currently around 13 inches at the shoulder (not very accurate, just using my diy measuring tape). We will still love him regardless of course but it sounds like he might have done most of his growing height wise already. Vet very pleased with how trim and healthy he is but using the generic puppy growth chart they think he’s going to be 14kg when fully grown which is 50% more than what seems to be the standard. No plans to show him, he’s firmly the family pet, but he might do agility when he’s older.

Re: weight at 6 months 7.2 kg!!
Hi Steven. I dont think he'll end up at 14kg unless hes overweight. My 1st boy Barney was built like a tank and very muscular. At 16 weeks he was around 13" at the shoulder and weighed 6.5kg pretty much the same as Oskar. Full grown he was 15.5" and around 11.5kg. The most he ever weighed was 12.5kg just before he died but he was unwell and didnt have a lot of energy to exercise.
They tend to stop growing in height around 7 months and then fill out. By comparison Jasper is a skinny mini built more like a marathon runner than a decathlete Although hes around 16.5 inches he weighs 10.2Kg
