Monty the winner

If your Schnauzer is Best in Show at the county fair or CRUFTS, share it with all of us. You will find show listings along with results from the various dog shows around the country. You will more than likely spot a few members in the show ring.

Monty the winner

Post by Dinkum »

I saw this clip on the BBC this morning.

Moment Monty the giant schnauzer wins prestigious US dog show

Watching Monty in the ring, it's easy to imagine how much expression a wagging tail would add to his presence. Can't say I am a big fan of cropped ears either. There is something attractive about those floppy ears.

Rupert, black mini, 24/12/10 - 01/03/24
Watson, black mini born 21/02/12

I offer my advice freely, but I am not an expert, breeder, groomer or behaviourist. It is simply my experience of raising pups in a way that seems to make sense.

I saw the same clip and my immediate thought was shame he hasn't got any ears and tail :(

Doesnt help with trying to get US breeders to stop cropping and docking when one wins best in show thats cropped and docked. Lovely dog though got a gorgeous big black gum drop nose :x

It is all wrong, I'm sorry to say. If it was meant to be like that, it would of been born that way! May be a nice GS but all the same all wrong. USA guidelines should be a shamed of themselves by inflicking that on such a lovely breed.
Nina But never forget Hugo.

So sad to see that. I remember when Philip the Giant Schnauzer won at Crufts in 2008 - he was magnificent and no cropping of ears there. I was lucky enough to see him later at another dog show and he really was eye catching - great presence, wonderful temperament and beautiful.
