Schnauzerfest 17th & 18th October 2015
After the phenomenal success of last year's Schnauzerfest - both in money raised for DBARC (around £7500) and fun that was had - Kate, Mike and I have decided to admin it again this year
As with last year, it 100% relies on people offering to organise and host walks. It would be great if we could have more walks around the country than last year
Walks don't have to be for large groups, there are plenty of people who might prefer to join one with fewer dogs and people, so do think about setting one up for yourselves and others
A good location is one suitable for off-lead dogs, with toilets and parking nearby and easily accessible. Other things like cafes are a bonus.
We're adopting the same approach to fundraising, the honesty box worked, in fact it worked brilliantly and the link is up and running http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundrai ... &pageUrl=6
As with last year, the events will be listed here on the calendar and on this page which is on Facebook. NOTE this is a public page so even if you're not logged into facebook, anyone can view it just like a regular website.

Re: Schnauzerfest 17th & 18th October 2015
I'm happy to sort Scotland again. Anyone from North of Aberdeen up for arranging a walk in the North somewhere?
I'll be planing a walk somewhere in the Western half of the Central Belt and one in the Aberdeen vicinity.

Happy to organise Cambridgeshire (Probably Ferry Meadows) and Hertfordshire (Wendover Woods or Ashridge) and if I time it right I may be able to get to another walk too

Re: Schnauzerfest 17th & 18th October 2015
Will get the dates in our diary pronto, it was brilliant last year, although goodness knows how many hours I wasted constantly checking the fund raising total
I'm sure we can arrange a walk too, as well as getting to as many others as possible

Can I just ask, is it open for anyone to organise a Schnauzerfest walk? Obviously informing the main admin if doing so!
I may be getting my wires crossed somewhere.... i often do

ETA Just realised you are part of the NW Group Admin - Jan may already be on the case but nothing to stop you having more than one walk in the area over the weekend

Re: Schnauzerfest 17th & 18th October 2015
We have 2 confirmed walks already: Black Park, Slough, hosted once again by Annabel and a new one for this year which is rather exciting, Langport, Somerset, hosted by Jason and Henry Schnauzer

Re: Schnauzerfest 17th & 18th October 2015
Can I just ask if SF will be in aid of DBARC again or will consideration be given to other charities? I don't have any in mind particularly, just asking

At the moment, DBARC is the only one on the fundraising link I've set up.Morgana99 wrote:Can I just ask if SF will be in aid of DBARC again or will consideration be given to other charities? I don't have any in mind particularly, just asking
If there's any wish to share it with another rescue, there is a great one I can suggest and would be happy to put the work into supporting with Schnauzerfest.

Re: Schnauzerfest 17th & 18th October 2015
There will be the choice of supporting two rescues this year if taking part in Schnauzerfest, posted tonight on the page:
"The world of dog rescue is a tough one. So, this year, we would like not only to support Diana Brimblecombe Animal Rescue Centre but to extend it to another rescue, doing excellent work, including with survivors of the puppy farming industry. So, we are proposing that there is the option to donate to DBARC and/or East Midlands Dog Rescue. We will run 2 separate donation links. We hope that this is a suggestion that finds favour with the majority of Schnauzerfest supporters
We have spent time researching suitable rescues which must meet these minimum requirements: be a registered charity, a small, independent rescue & help dogs of all breeds including schnauzers. They must also have a sound reputation (if anyone saw the recent BBC Inside Out investigation into a dog rescue in Dorset, you'll know why this is so important, but it does take time to research and be sure of).

The EMDR fundraising link will be open shortly
