There are a growing number of places now where you can book a secure dog park / field for a set amount of time to exercise or train your dog / dogs off lead with no worries about other dogs coming up to them or being aggressive, or about your own dog/s if they are reactive / noisy / need somewhere to train without distractions. It is worth checking in your own area as to whether there is a facility like this within easy driving distance if you feel your dog could benefit.
We currently have four extra miniature schnauzers staying with us ( pups we have bred in past years) and yesterday we took them along with our own three minis for an hour's play off lead in a local dog play park. It was luckily quite cool that morning although there is some shade in the field and the dogs had a brilliant time playing together in a bigger space than our own garden.
This is the link to the one we visited but there are others in Yorkshire and elsewhere:

Re: Safe Dog Play Parks
It's a great idea..wish there were more over here! We have enclosed areas in the city parks, but I won't go in when there is a pit bull and an owner on a telephone..
I have to comment on the lovely uniformity of your breeding...each and every one in the pic are a compliment to your breeding.I do hope you return to breeding mini schnauzers again one day.

It does look like fun; if in the UK, it's worth 'googling' "Safe Dog Play Parks" as I found this site: https://www.dogwalkingfields.co.uk/ and when searching for my postcode, found a couple of fields that were enclosed that you could pay to use.
So worth checking out

Re: Safe Dog Play Parks
Jo - thank you for your kind comments re our dogs. We did always do all we could to breed quality, healthy miniature schnauzers and, having kept in touch with all the families who have had a pup (or more) from us, all seem to be doing really well
Thanks for the link, Mike - that's useful.
Some places may not be listed on this though - none of the ones near us seemed to be on it - so if anyone does draw a blank via that website, you could try googling "dog field for hire / rent" in your own area (or something similar) as well which might bring up others too.

Re: Safe Dog Play Parks
I don't go to dog parks if others are there for many reasons. One of which is children . Even my dog friendly dog cannot be trusted around children. One she was not raised with any so has no experience with them, two she is a herding dog and wants to run after them and nip them. I used to take her to a dog park and when kids came I had to immediately leash her and take her out. Which is fine, its my dogs problem. I do find it concerning when people take their kids who then run around and wrestle (I did see a boy doing this and his parents didn't stop him) or pet other people's dogs. If kids are there at all they should ignore the other dogs and definitely don't run around, get in dogs faces, etc. I would definitely worry about a three year old who's face is at mouth level of certain breeds being in a dog park. Even holding children can freak some dogs out. I walked by a park once where a mom was holding a crying infant, three dogs immediately ran at her growling it was something they had never experienced before.
I personally think kids and dog parks don't mix. You don't know how other dogs are with children, the dogs may already be anxious about being there or over stimulated making a bite that much more likely to occur. That being said I have never seen a no kids rule, except for signs saying if you under a certain age you have to be accompanied by an adult.
Also I have a nervous fear aggressive dog which has made me more cautious of all things dogs in general, so lets we what some others say

Re: Safe Dog Play Parks
The safe dog parks which I mentioned are those which are booked by an individual or family for their own dog or dogs. No other dogs, adults or children are allowed in or near the park at that time as it is for the exclusive use of those who have booked it. These parks are ideal for anyone with dogs who do not want to socialise with others, who may have anxiety around children other dogs or particular adults. They are also great for anyone who wants to let their dogs off lead safely as the park is fully and securely closed and dogs can run free with no worries of escapingValentin01 wrote: ↑20 Dec 2020, 21:54 I don't go to dog parks if others are there for many reasons.
