Volunteering

Had enough of your Schnauzer for one day. Then sit back, relax and put your feet up. You can let off a little steam here about things unrelated to your four-legged schnauzer.

Volunteering

Post by Dancon » 24 Oct 2019, 15:19

Hello All. I am still struggling with losing my Stanley, and until I can decide what to do, I feel like some days I still long to be around schnauzers. I wondered if anyone knows if there is anywhere in the Midlands or Shropshire areas where I might be able to volunteer to help with schnauzers, say a rescue centre maybe?
Thanks
Lesley

Hi Lesley, I feel for you. Here is a group, not sure where they are based but might know of something. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1925589861048004/
Also there is the Many Tears rescue but I think they are down south so probably not good for you but again they may know of someone. Finally have you contacted the Schnauzer GB Club as they might know of other rescue groups. One other thought, lots of schnauzer owners look for lovely people to take their schnauzers in whilst they are on holiday. Just a thought and no idea what is involved but if you go on a local schnauzer facebook group there might be some interest from people who will only place their dogs in loving homes and if a schnauzer loving home then even better. :)

we also need a schnauzer.

While not schnauzer-specific the Cinnamon Trust is a great charity.
https://cinnamon.org.uk/
"A network of 15,000 volunteers “hold hands” with owners to provide vital loving care for their pets. We keep them together – for example, we’ll walk a dog every day for a housebound owner, we’ll foster pets when owners need hospital care, we’ll fetch the cat food, or even clean out the bird cage, etc.

When staying at home is no longer an option, our Pet Friendly Care Home Register lists care homes and retirement housing happy to accept residents with pets, and providing previous arrangements have been made with us we will take on life time care of a bereaved pet.

The Cinnamon Trust – Peace of mind for owners, love, care and safety for beloved pets. But helping 32,142 people a year with 41,342 animals and running two home from home sanctuaries costs – We need your help to make sure we’re always there."

We do have someone who supports Schnauzerfest who regularly walks a schnauzer for the Trust in Wales. They are a nationwide charity.
