Info on breed new owner

Post by Froggygd » 12 May 2020, 23:42

Hello all,
My name is Greg and I'm close to bringing home my first miniature schnauzer. He is a cream white and wanted to get any suggestions as to my first steps with potty training and controlling the barking. Also curious as I've read that there can be health issues with a white Schnauzer, is this true? I appreciate all comments.

Hi Greg I've split your post into a topic on its own.

With regards to health issues are you talking about deafness that can affect white boxers and some other breeds? This isn't a problem in white schnauzers. I know some white animals can suffer from skin cancers due to pale pink skin and sun burn, both my white have dark skin, and I've not heard of that as a problem either. White schnauzers have no differing health issues to the other colours of minis as far as I'm aware.

The only major issue I know of with white schnauzers is that because they are still quite uncommon to see they get confused with Westies :-0
Man cannot survive with wine alone...
we also need a schnauzer.
