Put my Olly to sleep

Saying goodbye to our Schnauzers is the hardest part. Share your memories here as we bid farewell to our beloved friends. They've crossed the bridge and returned to the meadow in full health and free of injuries. Running free. We won't forget.

Put my Olly to sleep

Post by Ollybear »

Had to have my beautiful miniature schnauzer Olly put to sleep last Wednesday - he was 15 yrs old.
He was really ill - the Vet said he had probably had a tumour/or spinal stroke.
It happened so fast.
Im in a terrible state - cry all the time.
What can i do?

The grief and sense of loss is huge, as is making that decision to put your beloved dog to sleep. The only thing that I found helps is to try and remember the good times, the puppy moments, those long walks, those holidays together, the cuddling in the sofa together. Looking at all the wonderful photos you took of Olly over the years.

I was devastated when I had to put Rupert to sleep 2 years ago. The sense of loss is huge. It has taken a long time to get over it, but I keep looking back at the great times we had together, and, yes, I still cry occasionally.

I offer my advice freely, but I am not an expert, breeder, groomer or behaviourist. It is simply my experience of raising pups in a way that seems to make sense.
