Going Outside

Post by Stephm86 »

Indie is now nearly 17 weeks, and he has completly toilet trained ( no accidents for a few weeks- fingers crossed)
Anyway he will now go to the back door if he needs to go out, but the problem is he doesn't make a noise to let us know he wants to.
This isn't a majour problem as we take him out regularly, but his toys are kept in the room where the door is and his water so we can sometimes be like yo yo's going to check just in case he needs to go again lol
Well my question is will this come as he gets older or is there anything that i can do to teach him to let us know. Also how do your dogs let you know when they need to go out?

Eddie is much the same and he will be 2 in a couple of weeks although if we don't notice him sitting by the door he will give a bit of a woof. By that time he is pretty desperate.
He sleeps with us and is pretty good during the night, even on the weekend when we try to sleep in to 8.30 or 9.00 but if he gets caught short he will sit on the bed and gaze at the window or go and sit by the bedroom door.

My mini schnauzer will be 5yrs in May, she has at least 4 walks every day. Last walk around 9.30pm or later at the weekend is we have been socialising. She sleeps right through until around 7am and then walks us up - not to get out - she wants her breakfast. She has her first walk about 8am - 8.30am (dogrun)

She never has to tell us she wants out for the toilet and fingers crossed she has never needed out during the night.
